The first time I heard this song, it instantly resonates something deeper within me, a promise that I’m dreaming and praying to fulfill to a lady.

This song is the ‘A Thousand Years’ written and performed by Christina Perri. Its immense popularity is undeniable, it’s the anthem of the last part of the hit novel turned into movie series written by Stephenie Meyer, Twilight.

The song is connected deeply with the storyline of the novel. Edward Cullen, an unemotional vampire falls in love to a lady with little self-esteem, Bella Swan. In a sense, Edward Cullen waited and have been faithful to Bella, he loved her for a ‘thousand years’ and now that he finally met her, he made a promise that he will love her for a thousand more.

I believe that we can find enduring lessons in fiction, and I've been inspired by the faithfulness of a man to a woman even though they didn't even meet yet.

Can you hear the lesson of the song and the novel? Can you be faithful to your lifetime partner years before your destinies intersect?

If you’re still single and waiting, are you being faithful in little ways to that person every day? Do you keep the intimate acts that you know that he or she only deserves? Are you saving your love for your better half?

I’m always in awe of individuals who have the ‘The First and the Last’ commitment, a promise that they made to themselves they will only commit to one romantic relationship and that person will be the only one that will receive their romantic affection, the first and the last.

Others are laughing at their commitment, but they are relentless and committed to hold to a promise that our modern culture doesn't appreciate anymore.

They are willing to wait and love their special someone even before that fateful day when they will finally meet. Trusting God in the process and believing that their faithfulness will never be in vain.

If you’re one of them, I salute you. You’re one of the crazy ones who embrace this ‘A Thousand Years’ commitment. People may call you coward, but I believe that you’re courageous to the core.

You’re loving her even though she doesn't know your name yet.

You’re loving him even though there’s no hint that he loves you the same.

You’re writing your love letters to that person years ahead.

You love in spite of uncertainty. Your love is filled with courage and faithfulness.

You’re believing in that promise, someday this song will reverberate full sense and joy. Tears will flow. Your love will flow.

I have died every day
Waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid,
I have loved you for a
Thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

:) Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid
To fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt
Suddenly goes away somehow :)
